Gorilla Hands

This is a page from the book No Strings Attached: The Inside Story of Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Various gorilla hands were designed for the actor/puppeteer who was to wear the gorilla suit for the movie, Buddy.
I have recently experienced the striking difference in anatomical proportions between gorillas and humans. My arms are to short in proportion to my legs for me to be able to imitate the four-limbed walk of a gorilla. I would need forearm extensions.

  1. Interesting. It's things like this that limit the utility of motion-capture and make it unlikely that it would ever replace hand-crafted animation.
